Even if you tend to neglect houseplants, you’ll have a hard time killing this resilient plant. With lots of rich foliage and tiny white flowers, the spider plant battles benzene, formaldehyde, carbon monoxide and xylene, a solvent used in the leather, rubber and printing industries.
This plant seems to attract cats, but this plant is safe for cats and dogs.
3. Snake Plant

Also known as mother-in-law’s tongue, this plant is one of the best for filtering out formaldehyde, which is common in cleaning products, toilet paper, tissues and personal care products. Put one in your bathroom and it’ll thrive with low light and steamy humid conditions while helping filter out air pollutants.
This plant is toxic to both cats and dogs. If your pet ingested this plant, contact your local veterinarian or the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center at 888-426-4435.
4. Golden Pothos

Another powerful plant for tackling formaldehyde, this fast-growing vine will create a cascade of green from a hanging basket. Consider it for your garage since car exhaust is filled with formaldehyde. Golden pothos, also know as devil’s ivy, stays green even when kept in the dark.
This plant is also toxic to your pets. The symptoms are oral irritation, intense burning and irritation of mouth, tongue and lips, excessive drooling, vomiting, difficulty swallowing. Try to keep the plant out of their reach.
5. Red Edged Dracaena

The red edges of this easy dracaena bring a pop of color, and the shrub can grow to reach your ceiling. This plant is best for removing xylene, trichloroethylene and formaldehyde, which can be introduced to indoor air through lacquers, varnishes and gasoline.
Cats that eat the long, skinny fronds that are typical in the Dracaena plant family will vomit, sometimes with blood, become depressed and lose their appetites. Kittens can get a little wobbly and appear to be drunk. Luckily, these plants are not usually lethal and symptoms should disappear in 12 to 24 hours.
6. Weeping Fig (Ficus)

A ficus in your living room can help filter out pollutants that typically accompany carpeting and furniture such as formaldehyde, benzene and trichloroethylene. Caring for a ficus can be tricky, but once you get the watering and light conditions right, they will last a long time.
The creeping fig and the weeping fig are tempting for the cat and can be toxic if ingested in high quantities.
7. English Ivy

A study found that the plant reduces airborne fecal-matter particles. It has also been shown to filter out formaldehyde found in some household cleaning products.
This plant can be mildly toxic to pets. The symptoms are vomiting, abdominal pain, hypersalivation, diarrhea. Foliage is more toxic than berries
8. Warneckii Dracaena

Combat pollutants associated with varnishes and oils with this dracaena. The Warneckii Dracaena grows inside easily, even without direct sunlight. With striped leaves forming clusters atop a thin stem, this houseplant can be striking, especially if it reaches its potential height of 12 feet.
This plant can be toxic in both dogs and cats. The symptoms are in cats: dilated pupils, abdominal pain, increased heart rate and drooling. In both cats and dogs: vomiting, depression, inappetence, drooling, incoordination, and weakness.
9. Bamboo Palm

Also known as the reed palm, this small palm thrives in shady indoor spaces and often produces flowers and small berries. It tops the list of plants best for filtering out both benzene and trichloroethylene. They’re also a good choice for placing around furniture that could be off-gassing formaldehyde.
The Bamboo Palm is safe for all pets.
10. Peace Lily

Shade and weekly watering are all the peace lily needs to survive and produce blooms. It topped NASA’s list for removing all three of most common VOCs — formaldehyde, benzene and trichloroethylene. It can also combat toluene and xylene.

Our Village of America, honors the great story of our country from birth through the Louisiana Purchase....was it the greatest real estate deal in History? You decide.
Louis and Clark were charged by Jefferson to find a way across the Continent, no matter who ended up with this magnificent piece of land. According to my friends, Phyllis and Bernie Lang, back in 2005, when they honored the Louisiana Purchase, with their Christmas card... ( the purchase was 100 years old), they said that the most difficult part of the journey was at Great Falls, where it took Lewis and Clark 11 days to climb the 87 foot falls, with their supplies and boats. ( Fond memories remain with me of yearly Christmas cards from the Lang's, she was Phyllis Bianchi of the House of Bianchi, known for fabulous gowns!)
We have created here in Ashland , a living village as a historic reminder of our fabulously interesting history of the United States as it headed toward it's destiny as a Republic. Our Village in Ashland, which bounds,Sherborn, Holliston, and Framingham very near our location.. You can reach us from Framingham take 135 west, to Cherstnut Street, turn left, and we are just up the road. You can reach us from the Sherborn, Holliston end of town from Framingham, take 126 toward Holliston, at the top of the big hill turn right at the lights on to Eliot Street, right at the fork onto Fruit St, and at the light take a right onto Chestnut Street, we are just down the road, living in the triangle between Rt 126 and Rt 135... and as the Indians knew, this was a fertile land within the Sudbury River watershed. The Indians lived very nearby, they fished for eel in Lake Waushakum and in Farm Pond,( both are ponds), located in Framingham where the water drains from our area, into the reservoirs and streams that make up the Sudbury on its way to Boston and the Sea...
Celebrate the next anniversary of the Louisiana Purchase( in December it will be 110 years), by living here , its close to everything, shops, restaurants, hosptitals, colleges, and more, yet it is still country .... The Louisiana Purchase (French: Vente de la Louisiane "Sale of Louisiana") was the acquisition by the United States of America in 1803 of 828,000 square miles (2,144,000 square kilometers or 529,920,000 acres) of France's claim to the territory of Louisiana. The U.S. paid 50 million francs($11,250,000) plus cancellation of debts worth 18 million francs ($3,750,000), a total sum of 15 million dollars (around 4 cents per acre[1]), for the Louisiana territory ($236 million in 2013 dollars, less than 42 cents per acre).[2][3] The Louisiana territory encompassed all or part of 15 presentU.S. states and two Canadian provinces. The land purchased contained all of present-day Arkansas, Missouri, Iowa, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Nebraska; parts of Minnesota that were west of the Mississippi River; most of North Dakota; most of South Dakota; northeastern New Mexico; northern Texas; the portions of Montana, Wyoming, and Colorado east of the Continental Divide; Louisiana west of the Mississippi River, including the city of New Orleans; and small portions of land that would eventually become part of the Canadian provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan.
France controlled this vast area from 1699 until 1762, the year it gave the territory to its ally Spain. Under Napoleon Bonaparte, France took back the territory in 1800 in the hope of building an empire in North America. A slave revolt in Haiti and an impending war with Britain, however, led France to abandon these plans and sell the entire territory to the United States, which had originally intended only to seek the purchase of New Orleans and its adjacent lands.
The purchase of the territory of Louisiana took place during the presidency of Thomas Jefferson. At the time, the purchase faced domestic opposition as some argued that it was unconstitutional, though opposition ultimately was not widespread. Jefferson agreed that the U.S. Constitution did not contain provisions for acquiring territory, but decided to go ahead with the purchase anyway—to remove France's presence in the region and protect both U.S. trade access to the port ofNew Orleans and free passage on the Mississippi River.

The term Vastu, meaning a dwelling place, was initially used to refer to the homes of gods and human beings. However, with time, it came to be associated with the right location as well as design of almost any and every structure. Be it a plot, commercial complex, industry, shop/showroom, residential house or spiritual place like temple, Vastu tips are followed while building each and every edifice. Coming down to home, it takes an important place in all the activities of your day to day life. The structure of a house forms one of the important considerations in Vastu shastra. If the house construction is weak, vastu is also weak, and if house construction is strong, vastu also works strong.
When it comes to residential Vasthu, each and every aspect of a house is taken into consideration. Right from the master bedroom and kids' room to the bathroom and even the garage, there is not even a single aspect in a house that is overlooked by Vastu Shastra. For instance, best direction for master bedroom construction is southwest, while for other rooms; central, southern and central west directions are appropriate. Despite predictions that mortgage rates were to inch up in the second half of this year, fixed-rate mortgages continue to tumble.
Borrowing costs moved lower this week, as the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage dipped to a 4.10 percent average, Freddie Mac reports in its weekly mortgage market survey. The 30-year fixed-rate mortgages previous low average for the year was 4.12 percent.

Forecasts: Right or Wrong?Freddie Mac reports the following mortgage rate national averages for the week ending Aug. 21:
- 30-year fixed-rate mortgages: averaged 4.10 percent, with an average 0.5 point, dropping from last week’s 4.12 percent. Last year at this time, 30-year rates averaged 4.58 percent.
- 15-year fixed-rate mortgages: averaged 3.23 percent, with an average 0.6 point, dropping from last week’s 3.24 percent average. A year ago, 15-year rates averaged 3.60 percent.
- 5-year hybrid adjustable-rate mortgages: averaged 2.95 percent, with an average 0.5 point, dropping from last week’s 2.97 percent average. Last year at this time, 5-year ARMs averaged 3.21 percent.
- 1-year ARMs: averaged 2.38 percent, with an average 0.5 point, rising from last week’s 2.36 percent average. A year ago, 1-year ARMs averaged 2.67 percent.
