Bunny Day for all the "kids"

Today there were lots of Bunnies around....I saw a helicopter even in Holden where we build houses for 55 and over...The Bunnies were trying to get into the new house on the corner of Tea Party Circle...no luck!

Then they went over to Lake Whitehall in Hopkinton, I saw them boating across the lake to get over to our townhomes in Hopkinton...a black limousine picked them up and drove them the short distance...however...once again they were foiled!

When they re grouped a police cruiser rushed them to Ashland, Village of America where they missed out again, because the cruiser got a flat tire out on Rt 135.  The folks there  knew they were coming on an Easter Egg raid...they managed to foil the Bunnies again!

In Holliston, the Bunnies  again took to the sky, they tried to get into the palatial homes that are rising in the clouds....Halt!  The "kids" up there are too smart to let the Bunnies parachutes in...they took out their drones and wisked them over to the Mayo  Horse Farm, nearby , where the horses, promptly stampeded them out.

The Bunnies had fun, Easter Egg Raids, are a challenge for them, just as finding the right house is a challenge for you....You will not necessarily find the missing Easter Eggs, but....

Framingham History Center...presents..

The Framingham History Center Presents:

Abel Benson and His Trumpet Alarm...
Framingham's Paul Revere

Sunday, April 13, 2014
2:00 pm
Edgell Memorial Library
3 Oak St, Framingham

Featured Speaker: Libby Franck, Storyteller
Music By: Laura Asson, Fiddler
                      and others....

Who knew that a nine year old descendant of slavery from Framingham was chosen to help alert colonists from Needham to Dedham on the evening of April 18, 1775 with blasts from his trumpet? Abel Benson's trumpet was most likely passed down from his grandfather, Nero Benson, the head of a slave family owned by Framingham's first minister.

Upon learning of Abel's not-so-well-known midnight ride, Libby Franck has researched this family from their roots in Africa to Abel's grandson Charles whose journal is featured in Mariner of Color in the Age of Sail. Abel was also a fiddler and he most likely played with Thomas Nixon, Jr. whose tune book is a treasured item in the FHC's collection. As a music major at Framingham State University, Laura Asson has studied this book for her thesis and will entertain us with her own fiddle playing. She is an expert on the role of this period music as both a battlefield command and as a ballroom accompaniment.

Suggested donation:  $5.00

Image: "Negro Coachboy" an 18th century image of the slave trade from Erddig Hall England. With no image of Abel Benson, this is as close as we could come to the spirit of the program.

From the tiny sesame that we sprinkle on our bagels to the forty-five-pound double coconut borne by the coco de mer tree, seeds are a perpetual reminder of the complexity and diversity of life on earth. In An Orchard Invisible, Jonathan Silvertown presents the oft-ignored seed with the natural history it deserves, one nearly as varied and surprising as the earth’s flora itself. Enjoy An Orchard Invisible: A Natural History of Seeds, our free e-book for April.

“Entertaining and charmingly illustrated.… For all its erudition, however, this is not an encyclopedia of botanical lore, nor a definitive text, but rather a little gem of science writing that deserves a spot on any natural history lover’s bedside bookstand.… It is simply a delight to read.”—Natural History

What the heck happened last month? April Fool’s Day came a month early at our e-mail message service. For too many hours, the links in last month’s free e-book email did not work. If you missed picking up a copy of Economics for Humans by Julie A. Nelson, it is still available for free. And thanks much to the folks who alerted me to the problem last month.
